Resolutions are popular at the start of a year. Some people keep their resolutions, I suspect most forget what they even were by mid-year.

I am of the latter.

I love making grand plans for the new calendar year but rarely do I make any headway. Maybe my resolutions are too grand and smaller more attainable goals should be made? Maybe I need to be better about keeping them in a spot I will see daily as I go about my routine? Maybe I just need to simplify.

I discovered the idea of having a “word” for the year a few months ago and decided 2017 would be my year to try a “word”. Choosing a word turned out to be much more difficult than I thought. Finally I settled into a word that has many meaningful layers to my current situation.

My word for 2017… Renew.

Renew my health as I have post baby pounds hanging on.

Renew my self-care as the last year has been about the care of a newborn.

Renew my home as cleaning and organization has gone by the wayside.

Renew my relationship with my husband as “us” took the backburner to the kids these last few years.

Renew my spirit as connection with my spiritual side has been neglected far too long.

Welcome 2017. I look forward to seeing what renewal you bring.
